Hell's Frozen Over Pact
After the big freeze, it was almost impossible to stay warm. Groups of us sat in huddled masses to fight off the cold. One of them was a group called the Viridian Entente. A group of people that in the past we had trouble with. And they didn’t like us much, because we Celts smell funny and don’t shower often.
After going over to talk to them we found we really like these guys and in the cold they said the smell was not so bad. So we came together in the name of friendship and body heat to make this treaty.
Preamble
In an effort to seal the future of foreign relations between the Viridian Entente and the Grand Global Alliance, as well as ensure protection and support in these unstable times, this Mutual Defense Pact is hereby recognized and ratified by the undersigned alliances. May the Viridian Entente and the Grand Global Alliance persevere and coexist as friends and allies forevermore, just as our alliances had once so long ago.
I. Sovereignty and Amity
i. The history between the Viridian Entente and the Grand Global Alliance has been unstable and varying. Both alliances recognize that if a peaceful and prosperous history is to commence, then it needs to start with respectful and cordial communications among members. As such, both signatories do hereby agree to refrain from trolling or otherwise verbally assaulting one another.
ii. Both the Viridian Entente and the Grand Global Alliance recognize each alliance's sovereign rights. As such, both alliances to hereby agree to refrain from imposing any individual alliance's policies upon member nations of the other alliance.
II. Non-Aggression and Espionage Protocols
i. Both the Viridian Entente and the Grand Global Alliance do agree to refrain from any and all aggressive actions towards one another. This includes the use of spies, both in game and out, against each other, as well as unwarranted sanctions from Senators. If any member state of an undersigned alliance is found in direct violation of this article, the quarrel between all affected parties is expected to be resolved by diplomatic a means, and adequate reparations are expected to be paid.
III. Military Assistance
i. Should one signatory fall under attack by a foreign alliance, the other signatory is expected to come to the immediate assistance of the attacked upon request, whether that assistance be military, financial, or otherwise. Once the request is made, the other signatory alliance must respond within twenty-four hours' time.
ii. Should one signatory deem it necessary to take aggressive actions against a foreign alliance, said aggressor may request assistance from the other signatory alliance. The other signatory alliance is encouraged, but not required to comply with said request.
IV. Termination
i. Should one signatory alliance break an article outlined previously in this document then the treaty is considered null and void.
ii. Should one signatory feel the need to withdraw from the treaty, the must give the other signatory a forty-eight hour's notice, in which it will be announced at the end of the forty-eight hour time period. After the announcement of this treaty's termination, Articles I and II are to remain in effect for a remaining seventy-two hours.
